Lindley Ward Candidate

David lives and works in Salendine Nook and loves the Lindley ward:

It’s a beautiful part of Kirklees, with great local businesses and a vibrant community spirit. We need strong representatives in the ward to stand up for people in Lindley, to protect our area and not roll over to accept the Labour administration’s bad planning and spending decisions

David gained a PhD in chemistry from the University of Huddersfield and is Head of Business Development for the Colne Valley based fitness equipment manufacturer, Shapemaster, where he is leading a £multi-million global growth strategy.

Throughout his career, whether in business, manufacturing, the arts, education or in science, David has a reputation for “getting things done” – no matter how much resistance to change he meets. His ‘social capital’ is a useful asset with his ability to forge new relationships and his strong network in business, politics and in the community.

In the community, David was recently re-elected to serve as a volunteer on the Members’ Council of the NHS community healthcare organisation, Locala, where he is currently championing the importance of preventative physical activity, particularly for older people, and also serves on Locala’s Carbon Response Group.

We need volunteers to help ensure we run a full operation in target areas at the next elections
Councillors, candidates and activists meet for a couple of hours on Saturday mornings to deliver leaflets and letters.
If you prefer to help us at a time that suits you, delivering a newsletter to 150 or so houses is a great way to help!
It's really important that we speak to residents about our plans for the future and the way in which Labour is failing the people of Colne Valley.
If you would like to make a donation, tick this box and we will be in touch with how you can help us in this way.
Not everyone is in when we knock on their door and other voters prefer a call. Let us know if you can phone voters from the comfort of your own home!
We're looking to select candidates to stand in the 2023 Kirklees Council elections.
Every new member makes us stronger and it only costs £2.09 a month! Or click on the link at the top of this page.
We run informal events throughout the year for our members, sometimes with MPs and Ministers as speakers.

Following the devastating removal of a number of trees from private land off Reap Hirst Road, Birkby, in December, Cllr Adam Gregg and local campaigner Dr David Heathcote have been working together with local residents, Kirklees Council and the Forestry Commission to explore what can be done to ensure that the removal of the trees is fully investigated and that moving forward, trees and wildlife are fully protected.
